Integrated Veterinary Medicine Summer Program
This program provides lectures, face-to-face communication, practical experience, and other means of in-depth knowledge about the application and development of Integrative Veterinary Medicine in the United States to help understand the status and trends of American veterinary medicine and foster cross-cultural exchange and innovation capabilities among veterinary students.
Program Background
Chi University is the first university in the USA to offer a master's program in Integrative Veterinary Medicine (MS-IVM). Chi University is also the first modern university dedicated to Integrative Veterinary Medicine and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Xie Huisheng, the founder of Chi University, was a clinical professor at University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.Dr. Xie is one of the first professors in the United States to specialize on equine, canine, feline, and exotic clinical practice. Over the past 26 years, Chi University has trained thousands of professionals in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and Integrative Veterinary Medicine from over 80 countries worldwide.
Integrative Veterinary Medicine is a broad discipline that combines Western Veterinary Medicine with holistic therapies, including rehabilitation, physical therapy, chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutritional management. With the popularity of integrative therapies in human medicine, pet owners are also seeking similar treatment options for their animals. Many universitiy teaching animal hospitals and private pet clinics in the United States now offer Integrative Veterinary Medicine (IVM) services to provide comprehensive care for patients.
This program provides lectures, face-to-face communication, practical experience, and other means of in-depth knowledge about the application and development of Integrative Veterinary Medicine in the United States to help understand the status and trends of American veterinary medicine and foster cross-cultural exchange and innovation capabilities among veterinary students.
Scholarship $700 limited to 10 seats available. Scholarship application deadline is May 31st, 2026. Submit the following materials to admin@chiu.edu.

Grasp the holistic concepts and clinical applications of Integrative Veterinary Medicine (rehabilitation, physical therapy, chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture, and herbal medicine).

Instructors
Huisheng Xie
DVM, PhD
Dr. Xie has 42 years of clinical, teaching, and research experience in veterinary acupuncture and TCVM. He has trained over 12,000 veterinarians to practice TCVM worldwide. Dr. Xie’s education includes advanced training in veterinary medicine, veterinary acupuncture, and human acupuncture. Dr. Xie has authored 20 books and over 100 peer-reviewed papers. His textbooks, including Xie’s Veterinary Herbology, Xie’s Veterinary Acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine-Fundamental Principles, have been used for TCVM training programs around the world. Dr. Xie continues to teach and develop educational courses and programs at Chi University, serves as a full clinical professor at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, and is an honorary professor at China Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University, and China Southwest University.

BVSc, PhD, DACT, CVA
Dr. Mushtaq Memon is a Professor Emeritus at Washington State University (WSU) and Executive Director of the World Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Memon is a specialist in Veterinary Reproduction (Theriogenology) and is a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists. Before joining WSU, he was a faculty member at the Veterinary Colleges of Oklahoma State Univ, Louisiana State Univ, and Tufts Univ. Dr. Memon is an internationally recognized scholar and has served as a Fulbright Scholar, visiting professor, consultant, or volunteer in 28 countries to enhance education standards and assist smallholder farmers in increasing food production in developing countries. Dr. Memon was a founding faculty member of the Paul Allen School for Global Health at WSU. Dr. Memon is the author of about 120 publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, and co-editor of 3 books. His recent book on Integrative Veterinary Medicine was published in 2023.
