Course Overview
The Acupuncture CE course in South Korea is equivalent to the Small Animal Veterinary Acupuncture course.
This CE course is comprised of online lectures, as well as hands-on wet labs and lectures on-site in South Korea. The online and on-site lectures, presentation slides, labs, class handouts and final exam are in English.
Main Topics
With a curriculum designed for students new to Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), the Small Animal Acupuncture Program provides a comprehensive mix of both theory and practice. Students will learn:
- TCVM Foundations: Five Elements, Yin-Yang, Eight Principles, Zang-Fu Physiology and Pathology, Meridians and Channels
- The scientific basis of acupuncture
- 128 transpositional and 40 classical canine acupuncture points (hands-on, wet-lab demos)
- How to needle acupuncture points in dogs, cats and birds
- TCVM diagnostic systems, including tongue and pulse diagnosis
- How to integrate acupuncture into your practice

CVA Certification
Students of the Veterinary Acupuncture program are eligible for the Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist certification endorsed by Chi University and the World Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (WATCVM). The CVA certification requirements are as follows:
Complete all sessions of the program
Pass three online quizzes with scores above 75%
Pass the final written exam in the final on-site session with a score above 75%
Pass the clinical acupoint exam in the final on-site session with a score above 75%
Submit one veterinary acupuncture case report to be approved
Complete 30 hours of advanced TCVM program training or internship with a certified veterinary acupuncturist
Please note that Chi cannot issue any certification to veterinary students until their DVM or equivalent has been obtained.
Instructors
Min Su Kim
DVM, PhD
Dr. Min Su Kim received his DVM from Kyungpook National University of Veterinary Medicine and PhD degree from the Seoul National University in 2006 with acupuncture and surgery studies. Then, he completed internship in acupuncture, at the University of Florida (UF) Veterinary Medical Center. He is associate professor at College of Veterinary Medicine, Chonbuk National University and has been working a research professor at Indiana Medical School. He has authored over 5 books of veterinary surgery and traditional veterinary medicine and published over 90 papers on the veterinary surgery and acupuncture effect in the peer-reviewed journals. He has been working as academic committee chair in both Korean Society of Veterinary Surgery (KSVS) and Korean Society of Traditional Veterinary Medicine (KSTVM). He has been doing one of the major speakers and instructors at the Asian Chi course (South Korean and Beijing).
Sakyeng Shin
DVM
Dr. Sakyeng Shin studied Veterinary Medicine at Chungnam National University. She then later continued her studies of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida and Seoul National University. She currently serves as the Director of Chi South Korea.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to take acupuncture classes in a prescribed order or can I start at any time?
You must start at session one and continue along in order. If you have mitigating circumstances, you will have to defer all following sessions until the next semester.
